Family members have now been urged to come to Woodhull Hospital to say goodbye to Garner.

Erica Garner, the activist daughter of police chokehold victim Eric Garner, whose death stirred the Black Lives Matter movement, has been described as brain dead by doctors five days after she suffered a massive heart attack.

Snipes-Garner said her daughter suffered her first heart attack not long after giving birth to a baby boy in August, to which Erica named after her father.

"She's not gone; she's brain dead", Esaw Snipes, Garner's mother said December 28.

"Cat scan shows Erica suffered major brain damage from a lack of oxygen while in cardiac arrest", the tweet read.

According to the NY Daily News, Erica Garner had been in a coma since suffering a asthma attack that triggered a heart attack last Saturday. In 2014, Garner was killed in Staten Island by NYPD officers who put him into a chokehold while arresting him under the suspicion of selling single loose cigarettes.

My thoughts are with Erica Garner, her family and friends in hoping that she has a full recovery and rejoins the struggle for justice as soon as possible.

"From three years ago, she never stopped", he said. His final words were "I can't breathe", which he repeated 11 times. She became a prominent civil rights leader and met former U.S. President Barack Obama in 2016.

After a video of Garner's death went viral, activists gathered across the nation to protest police brutality.

Eric Garners oldest daughter, Erica Garner, has been hospitalized since Christmas Eve.
