Amazon's Alexa and Echo Devices Were Popular on Christmas

The company's popular product, Amazon Alexa, which is a voice-based assistant software behind Amazon Echo, was the most downloaded app on Christmas Day in both Apple Store and Google Play, two virtual stores for the iOS and Android mobile operating systems.

"Since Day One we have obsessed over what we believe our customers care about-incredible deals and low prices, fast and free shipping, and a wide selection of top products-and we continue to provide all three, all the time". Amazon also touted how over the span of one week, more than four million people became Prime members, or started a free trial.

Fire Kids Edition tablets saw sales rise 240% year-over-year.

Of course, what holiday would be complete with a bit of boozing and schmoozing?

The recipe for chocolate chip cookies was the most requested recipe this holiday season.

The most requested song from Alexa during the holidays was "Jingle Bells".

Alexa customers asked for tens of millions of jokes this holiday season. They lowered iPhone X sales projections for the first quarter of next year, citing signs of lackluster demand at the end of the holiday shopping season, and the company's shares fell 2.5 percent Tuesday, weighing down the Dow Jones industrial average. Compared to last year's holiday season, Amazon sold "millions more" Amazon devices during this year's holiday season.

Kindle tablets celebrated its tenth holiday shopping season. This holiday season, Amazon's Echo Dot was the top-selling Amazon device, as well as the top-selling product available from any manufacturer across all categories on, with millions sold.

Shopping on the Amazon app increased by almost 70 percent.
