Forecast: Blustery with lake snow tonight - Wednesday

Lake-effect snow bands are beginning to break up and shift east.although more is redeveloping west a bit.

Mitchell added with the temperature expected to hover around 20 degrees, wind chills throughout the day and evening will make it feel like it's below zero. Interior sections will see 4 to 8 inches of snow, with a slushy 2 to 4 inches of snow along the coast.

A Winter Weather Advisory and a Wind Advisory are in effect for Ashe and Watauga County Tuesday.

We'll see a series of weaker lows move through the Great Lakes.

Be very careful if you will be out and about tonight and especially the morning rush Wednesday, as many roads will become slick and snow covered tonight, especially late tonight into Wednesday across CNY.

Between four and six inches of snow is possible by late Wednesday afternoon with the highest amounts expected over the Fox Cities, according to the Weather Service.

Winter weather advisory in effect across the state until 6 pm

A broad upper-level trough is to blame for Sunday's snow, with widespread flurries and more-intense bands off of the lakes, but that's just a taste of what's ahead for Tuesday and Wednesday. More is expected with lake enhancement in the Snowbelt.

Egging this round of snow on will be some of the coldest air yet to plunge into the region this season.

Temperatures will be in the mid-teens Wednesday before hitting low single digits Wednesday night.
