Apple Music competitor? YouTube to launch music streaming service 'Remix' in March

One upon a time YouTube even offered something of its own as well, making this another attempt at breaking into the market. Of course, there are other local music streaming services as well, but they are not as big or better than Apple Music and Spotify.

Though the music industry had hoped Red would be devoted to music, YouTube has positioned it as a home for original video projects like science-fiction comedy "Lazer Team" and a reboot of "The Karate Kid". The new streaming service, which is said to be called Remix, will include Spotify-style on-demand streaming along with YouTube-only elements like video clips.

Some other reports also suggest that, YouTube will merge the YouTube Red's subscription with this Remix platform so the users who have subscribed to YouTube Red will be able to explore the platform simultaneously.

If we go back and talk about other services, Google has launched many subscriptions in the past. And, we personally don't prefer Google's Play Music either for myriad reasons. Earlier this week, the former removed its YouTube streaming service from some of the latter's devices, including Amazon Fire TV and the Echo Show, which caused a war of words between the two companies. Now, the giant is going to combine all these platforms with just one single platform for the music lovers. That morphed into YouTube Red in 2016, letting users watch any video without advertising. If yes, which service do you prefer, and why? It requires you to opt out a subscription plan and you will become a premium user of the service.

"We believe Google is likely positioning itself to launch a product similar to the Echo Show, bringing together voice and display, and that this type of product will ultimately only be successful if YouTube access is provided", Youssef Squali, a SunTrust Robinson Humphrey analyst, said in a note to clients.

Labels like Warner Music Group has already signed for the service, while the discussion with Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group are apparently underway for more than a year. They're also in talks with Merlin, a consortium of various independent labels. YouTube Music Key came along in 2014, giving subscribers ad-free music videos.

Right now there's no rumored price point for the cost if this new service, and there likely won't be until it gets closer to the rumored launch date. Let's see how impressive this new Google's service would be!
