Selena sang Raisa's praises a third time-again, fighting back tears-during Billboard's Women in Music event Thursday night (November 30). Earlier this year, Raisa donated her kidney to Gomez, who has been her lifelong friend.

"When I found out I was a [kidney type] match for Selena, I didn't think twice about it", Raisa said before she handed Gomez the award.

Selena Gomez has debuted some incredible new music this year, even while she has battled for her life. As people speak out, I hope that feels powerful to them, because they deserve to feel that.

'Honestly, I couldn't be more grateful for the position that I've been given in my career from 7 to 14 to now. "I want people to know that I respect the platform that I have so greatly. I would like to thank my incredible team and family because they stuck with me through some really hard times". After revealing in September that she had received a life-saving kidney transplant, she only recently made her return to the stage in a heavy performance of her latest single, "Wolves", at the AMAs. "But how crucial it is that the voices that are being heard for the first time is so great, and I'm so grateful for all the older women who have lifted all of us up, because I couldn't be here without any of you".

Gomez has been abundantly introspective, which was clear from the accompanying interview she did for the December 9 issue of Billboard. "But I think it is important to kind of go through your life the way you want and I like to come at things with my best". Gomez continued by thanking her other friends and family who helped her through her rather tough year, and on top of that, her peers in the music business for keeping her spirits up.

"To be honest, I'm not sure how to answer - not because I'm trying to back away from it", she said in an interview with Billboard magazine. "I love you so much sis".
