He has pled guilty to those lies.

President Donald Trump is expressing no concern about the guilty plea by his former national security adviser Michael Flynn. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. "There was nothing to hide!"

Update, 8 p.m.: Ross has indeed issued a "clarification"-he now says Trump told Flynn to get in touch with Russian Federation after the 2016 election but before the January inauguration".

"Immediately upon learning of the allegations, the Special Counsel's Office removed Peter Strzok from the investigation", Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller, confirmed to Fox News.

Flynn was forced to resign on February 13 as national security adviser after 24 days on the job for misleading Vice President Mike Pence about Russian contacts. If today's tweet is true, he then lied to Comey to get him to drop an investigation, knowing full well Flynn had lied to the FBI. Asked if he stands by his former national security adviser, Trump said, "We'll see what happens". @POTUS now admits he KNEW Michael Flynn lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

In at least one instance, prosecutors say Flynn was directed by a "very senior member" of the presidential transition team to discuss a United Nations resolution on whether to condemn Israel's building of settlements.

Earlier on Saturday, Trump also told reporters that his elections campaign was not engaged in any collusion with Russian Federation.

But a former Obama administration Justice Department official, Matthew Miller, said Mr Trump's tweeted response may have "admitted to obstruction of justice".

CNN reported that a source familiar with the investigation said Kushner is the "very senior" transition official mentioned in the documents.

After landing in New York City, Trump's motorcade drove near several hundred protesters decrying the tax bill and his administration's entanglement in the Russian Federation probe.

Trump was much more content Saturday to talk to reporters about the taxes after Senate Republicans delivered him a rare legislative victory early Saturday morning, passing the sweeping tax plan they'd written hours earlier in a partyline vote. "Now we go on to conference, and something attractive is going to come out of that mixer".

The text messages showed Strzok and Page reacting with anti-Trump sentiments to certain news events, including the presidential debates.

Doing so suggests the president knew at the time that Flynn had done something that is against the law, and therefore the investigation could not be as frivolous as he has been portraying. At about 2 a.m., Mr. Strzok wrote an email to Mr. Comey and scheduled it to send at 6 a.m.
