But, starting today (November 27) the handset will get Android 8.0 Oreo OS update, per Mo Versi, company's vice president of product management. Even so, in the end, the Android Oreo upgrade will reach all HTC U11 units in the US. The Taiwanese tech giant released the OS update in time for Cyber Monday. HTC did promise its release but we weren't sure when exactly the update would be ready.

It's been a lot rougher, though, for anyone else who uses a device from the huge library of Android-powered phones, but you're in luck if you're an owner of the unlocked version of the HTC U11. We may have missed HTC's special deals but this is one offer we know U11 phone owners can't resist.

After months of anticipation, the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the HTC U11 is now available.

HTC had confirmed back in August that it will soon be rolling out the Android Oreo update for the HTC U11, U Ultra and the U10. Android Oreo is also set to bring access to a wide range of features including Notification Channels, Notification Dots, Autofill for passwords and Android Instant Apps. In the reply thread to his tweet, Mo confirms that the U11 Life will also get the Oreo update. The upcoming launch is understood to be gradual in nature, as is usually the case with over-the-air updates for contemporary smartphones. It seems that the new Finnish startup takes the word, launching the Android 8.0 Oreo package for its flagship among the first, alongside industry-heavyweight companies.
