"This is why we can't have nice things, darling", goes the chorus.

This dreamy ballad is mostly about Swift's boyfriend Joe Alwyn staying by her side and ignoring all the drama, but there may still be a few sly references to the Kanye feud.

Here, we've rounded up six sneaky references T.Swift could be making to Kanye with the song below.

"Rocking the coolest dark plaid pants and button-adorned heels, Swift first sat toward the front of the fishbowl, pointing out that she was basically on the set of her ".Ready for It?" music video, ready to break through the glass. To provide some context, the year that she's referencing is likely 2014-2015, following the release of her wildly popular 1989 album. The rest is pop culture history. In verse two, she makes it clear that "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" is about burning bridges.

This year, Taylor laid low and rarely posted on her social media accounts, a vast contrast to her effusive online presence beforehand. Her adventurous sound is coupled with lyrics that are drunker and more sexual than ever - she even drops her first in-song swear with a "shit" in "I Did Something Bad". But in the summer of 2016, Kanye released his hit track "Famous", in which he referred to Swift as "that bitch", said he still might have sex with her, and took credit for her rise to fame. The brief explanation is this: Kanye stormed the stage when Taylor won "Best Female Video" over Beyoncé.

Taylor Swift seems to be feeling quite proud of her new album. "It was so nice being friends again / There I was, giving you a second chance / But you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand", she sings.

"Kim and Kanye think Taylor is disgusting", an insider dished to Radar.

She references the calls again in 'This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things'. With over 10 million streams, it is the most-streamed song in a one-day period ever, the lyric video for "Look What You Made Me Do" broke the standing record with over 19 million views, while the music video shattered the original most viewed video (28 million) record with 43.2 million views in only 24 hours. He's also had some public falling-outs with many of his friends in recent years, most notably, Jay Z. Would that be all right?', she asked fans before playing the song.
