It's the first time since 2007 that three USA carrier strike groups are operating together in the Western Pacific.

"USS Nimitz (CVN 68), and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) strike groups will commence a three-carrier strike force exercise in the western Pacific, Nov. 11-14", the USA 7th Fleet announced on Nov. 8.

"It is a rare opportunity to train with two aircraft carriers together, and even rarer to be able to train with three", said Adm. Scott Swift, U.S. Pacific Fleet Commander.

Units assigned to the strike force will conduct coordinated operations in global waters to demonstrate the U.S. Navy's unique capability to operate multiple carrier strike groups as a coordinated strike force effort.

During the drill, the first of its kind in a decade, the warships will carry out air strike and defense simulations, maritime surveillance, sea supply, coordinated fenced maneuvers and other training, added the Navy.

US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, on a trip late last month to South Korea, was at pains to stress that diplomacy was America's preferred course to get North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons. The exercise included 30 ships, more than 280 aircraft and more than 20,000 service members from the Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.

The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan conducts joint drills with the South Korean navy at sea on October 19.

The Ministry of National Defense (MND) on Thursday confirmed to media that this will be the first time that the ROK and the USA navies stage joint bilateral drills with the three aircraft carriers in waters off the east coast of the country. The Fleet is just as committed to maintaining those security commitments for the next 70 years.

In late May, Reagan and the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group conducted the first dual-carrier operations off of the Korean Peninsula since the late 1990s in reaction to a series of provocative missile tests conducted by North Korea.

During his recent visit to Seoul, Trump said, " North Korea is not the paradise your grandfather envisioned.

The South Korean military will join a rare U.S. Navy exercise off the coast of the Korean Peninsula this weekend.

"The U.S. efforts to expand its military influence in Asia-Pacific and the movement of big neighboring powers to contain it escalate the military tension and increase arms race in the region with each passing day", it said. This is a very different administration than the USA has had in the past. "And do not try us".
