Paducah holds ceremony and parade for local veterans

San Jose's Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, starting from the Highway 87 overpass at Santa Clara Street and go along Market Street to San Carlos Street.

Halifax will also be holding a ceremony at 9 a.m.at Town Hall with speakers and wreaths being placed at nearby monuments. We'll be involved in the parade downtown tomorrow morning, and then we are hosting a veterans dinner tomorrow between 4 and 6 p.m.

The San Francisco Veterans Day Paradewon't actually take place on Veterans Day, but the Sunday event will begin on the Embarcadero at North Point Street and head into Fisherman's Wharf along Jefferson Street. In observance of the day, ShuttleBus-Zoom will offer free rides to veterans and active military with proper identification.


Allegan General Hospital is kicking off Veterans Day weekend on Friday, Nov. 10, by offering free lunch to veterans from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m.at its Riverfront Café in the basement level or Fresh Start Café on the main level at 555 Linn St.

Parade entries included area high school marching bands, Junior ROTC programs and Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts.

During the ceremony, Walter Eugene Lowrey has honored as the 2017 Distinguished Veteran and the parade's grand marshal.

The parade was followed by a brief ceremony in front of Mooresville town hall, lunch and a concert on the town hall lawn.
