Get the first look at Jodie Whittaker as 'Doctor Who'

Attack The Block's Jodie Whittaker landed the gig, which was a very nice get for Doctor Who, indeed.

Whittaker's outfit for her tenure as the 13th Time Lord - the first female Doctor - features blue cropped pants with yellow braces, a long trench coat and brown boots.

Throw in some sturdy boots, and this Doctor means business (and, we may add, is rather stylish). While the length of the coat echos David Tennant the 10th and the color of it, Sylvester McCoy and the 7th. Taking to Twitter, many fans voiced their disapproval of Whittaker's costume, something that seems to stem from the still smoldering embers of her casting. And this is exactly what Whittaker's Doctor looks to bring to the series: brightness. It's a Doctor Who tradition! The suspenders, which some are vocal about hating, is obviously a callback to Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor.

Initially, Doctors were said to only have 13 possible regeneratons - meaning Whittaker would be the last. The first ever female titular character of the show will make her debut on the Christmas Special episode when Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi regenerates into Thirteen. She has a long jacket (hello, David Tennant); high-waisted trousers (very Patrick Troughten); suspenders (mighty Matt Smith); and a set of stripes across her shirt that could be a subtle tribute to Tom Baker's iconic long scarf.

"[The First Doctor] goes into the Twelfth Doctor's Tardis and says 'it's a bit dusty around here, it's in an bad state isn't it?" The show isn't changing The Doctor because a woman is playing her (one of the fears that was out there); instead, this honors some of the previous costumes worn by Doctors while giving you something new and interesting at the same time.
