Call of Duty: WWII strips down the experience that had become quite chaotic in recent releases and took the series back to its roots.

As one of three studios continually making Call of Duty games for an annual release schedule, Sledgehammer's work would have begun in 2014 as Treyarch and Infinity Ward worked on their entries for 2015 and 2016. Plus the added content hasn't even been released yet, but it's very clear Call of Duty fans were very excited that the franchise ditched the confines of space and went to the beaches of Normandy.

Humvee is a riff on "HMMWV", which actually stands for "High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles". AM General said it has made more than 278,000 Humvees. According to the details revealed by the publisher, Call of Duty WWII earned over $500 Millions during the first 3 days of the launch.

In addition to this, Activision also announced that Call of Duty WWII sold 2X more units at launch as compared to the last year's game from Infinity Ward - Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Humvees have most commonly been used by the USA military since AM General started production on the vehicles in the mid-'80s.

AM General is owned by MacAndrews & Forbes Inc and Renco Group Inc, holding companies for the billionaires Ronald Perelman and Ira Rennert, respectively.

In recent months, they have been used in armed conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, and to provide relief to victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. The same company also produces the consumer Humvee.

Shares of Activision Blizzard rose 4 percent Wednesday morning following the news.
