Slaven Bilic: West Ham manager confirms talks with bosses over future

Asked if he'd be surprised if West Ham sacked Bilic, Sam Allardyce said on Match of the Day: "It wouldn't surprise me because there were rumours not so long ago that Slaven had two games or three games, and I think that no contract extension in the summer, in his past year of his contract, so it all pointed out to the first 10 games for Slaven were the most important, and he knew that". Bilic's contract is up until at the end of the season and he restated his belief that he could turn around the team's fortunes - no wins in their last four league games - after they lost 4-1 to Liverpool amid another defensive shambles.

Bilic said he would speak to co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold as usual after the defeat.

Klopp said: "I decided after just one training session to bring Sadio in from the beginning".

"The Toni Martinez situation, I know he is scoring goals for West Ham and I know him very well. Of course I always believe in myself but it is not only about that now". But at the moment we have a few strikers in good form. "We need to ease the pressure off the gaffer and ourselves".

Just prior to Salah's opening goal Liverpool had lined up as 4-2-3-1 in possession and 3-4-3 without the ball; alternating to a 2-4-4 once Joel Matip had grabbed the second.

Manuel Lanzini hit back early in the second half but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and another Salah goal ensured the win for the Reds.

Slaven Bilic's charges were erratic after half-an-hour and looked more prone to making mistakes at the back despite starting really well before they conceded the two goals in three minutes.

"We changed our approach, it was a counter-attacking lineup to use our speed from the deep".

"It's not a lack of effort". This time it was from a Reds corner, which Noble deflected towards his own goal, which was saved by Hart, but Matip was in the right place at the right time to prod home from close range.

"At this level, when you concede goals early against such a strong side, it's not game over but it's very hard to come back".
