Winx deserved Cox Plate win

"It's important to note Chris has had her at peak condition both times she's raced here and (today) will be the third".

Waller had said that there was "a bit of confidence" going into the race, with Winx rated a $1.15 chance to defeat the other eight in the field.

And she didn't disappoint, out-classing all opposition in the race.

Bowman is the country's leading Group One jockey, and Waller is Australia's leading Group One trainer. It has been such a build up and they said when we won last year nothing can prepare you for what you are in for next year.

Winx latest win sees her become just the second horse to win three successive Cox Plates, a feat previously achieved by the legendary Kingston Town. I've got something in my mind what I'm thinking, but I don't think it's fair today to talk about it.

Winx won her third straight Cox Plate to tie the record of the great Kingston Town, but an incredible challenge from Humidor had punters on the edge of their seat.

Any purse boost won't be able to match The Everest, which could receive a prizemoney increase as soon as next year following the stunning success of the inaugural running of the world's richest race on turf at Randwick this month. And you know trying to compare one horse to another, they are always different animals at the end of the day, be but we are in the presence of greatness as you said. "We would love to have her".

"I was concerned for a moment down the straight but she is Winx", he said.

Waller has expressed a strong interest in bringing Winx to Europe in 2018, with venues such as Royal Ascot and York among the possibilities, but he said after Saturday's race that no decision is likely to be made until early next year. Winx would need to win two or three more starts before then for that scenario to unfold.

"Remarkably well. She's very bright; she's just got back from the beach this morning", Waller told RSN 927's Correct Weight on Sunday morning. "I don't think we could've done it with any less [than four lead-up races]", Waller added. "We will sit down and work out a plan for next year and how that will look, but it is something we will be putting a lot of thought into".
