Sony Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus launched in India

The company claims that these phones will be manufactured in India. They will be available across India from November 10th in Black and Silver colors. Sony has announced, "Pre-registered customers will be entitled to a special offer".

Both the smartphones are essentially identical, with the only difference being the RAM and storage capacities. The Xperia R1 comes with 2GB RAM and 16 GB storage while the Xperia R1 Plus comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Rest of the specs remain the same. Under the hood, it's powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Mobile Platform coupled with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB inbuilt storage. These phones are packed with 2620mAh built-in battery.

The Xperia R1 Plus is nearly identical to the Xperia R1 down to the 146 x 73.2 x 8.8mm measurement and 154-gram weight. Connectivity options include: GPS, Bluetooth 4.2 wireless technology, Wi-Fi, and a USB Type-C.

Apart from that, both of them comes with a 5.2-inch HD LCD display, they are powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset and are now running on Android Nougat 7.0, although the company claims that will receive the Android Oreo update pretty soon.

Moving on to the little larger Sony Xperia R1 Plus, the device flaunts a 5.2-inch HD display with screen resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels and offers a borderless edge-to-edge design.

In terms of optics, the Sony Xperia R1 Plus comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Predictive hybrid autofocus, Exmor sensor, and a single LED flash. Up front, Sony added a 8MP selfie camera which also comes with hybrid autofocus support.

These are dual-SIM 4G VoLTE smartphones with dedicated dual Nano-SIM slots along with a microSD expansion slot. It measures 146.00 x 73.20 x 8.89 (height x width x thickness) and weigh 154.00 grams.
