Batshuayi had headed in an equaliser for the champions midway through the second half after the home side fell behind to two Watford goals either side of half-time to suggest the possibility of a third consecutive Premier League defeat.

Chelsea took the lead through Pedro Rodriguez at Stamford Bridge but the visitors hit back thanks to goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Roberto Pereyra.

Watford wasted a number of chances to extend its advantage before substitute Michy Batshuayi headed in the equalizer. "It wasn't our best game but we got an important win for our confidence after three games without winning".

"I don't want my players to give up, and that is impossible when the result is open". We deserved that goal. It's a big win for us.

David Luiz and Tiemoue Bakayoko start for Chelsea against Watford despite picking up knocks during Wednesday's 3-3 draw with Roma in the Champions League. It is six points below leader Manchester City, which hosts Burnley later.

"After the first 25 minutes in the second half we played really good, we controlled the match". We scored the second goal after a fantastic chance for Richarlison and after the goal, [we had] two or three chances and we need to score to kill the match.

"I feel pride when I see the way they worked in the last match".

They forced Chelsea onto the back foot early as well, with Antonio Rudiger making two important interventions within the first five minutes. Batshuayi then added Chelsea's fourth in stoppage time.

Watford: Gomes, Mariappa, Kabasele, Britos; Femenía, Cleverley, Doucouré, Holebas, Pereyra, Deeney (c) and Richarlison.

However, the second was just around the corner as a minute later Pereya was allowed the freedom of the Chelsea penalty area to slot home after Watford had cut the home side's defence to ribbons.

Another substitute, Willian, had a hand in Chelsea's third as he crossed for Azpilicueta to head home.
