The 26-year-old also attributed City's success this season to the fact that they are playing good football as well as obtaining the big-game results to go along with them, as highlighted by their 1-0 win at Chelsea where De Bruyne scored the victor.

Is Jose Mourinho the only manager who can stop City from winning the title? "But we have to keep going".

Pep Guardiola's side also made strong start last campaign when they won their first 10 matches under the former Barcelona coach.

"Just that we are winning", De Bruyne explained when asked what the difference between last season's City side and the current one were.

"I think past year we played good football but especially in the big games we didn't win them", De Bruyne added.

City, though, have already laid a significant marker this season with wins over top-four rivals Liverpool and Chelsea as well as Tuesday night's victory over Serie A leaders Napoli in the Champions League.

'We play dominant football and like to put a lot of pressure on them and if you can do that, it works well.

De Bruyne heaped praise on the club's Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson Santana de Moraes and said he has started the season well.

"It depends on everything - you need good play, the atmosphere needs to be good in the group, you need a little bit of luck, you need to be together to win a tournament and hopefully in that time we have it".

That City is being mentioned in such terms owes much to De Bruyne's stellar form but the ex-Chelsea man is keen to share the credit around.

"Shay, I want to get you back at the club at some point in the future".

"Because the way we play Napoli is different to the way we play Burnley and they have to adapt to specific things they do".
