Capcom reveals Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

The backlash was enough to prompt Capcom to commit to "completeness" in future releases a few months later, and while the newly-announced Street Fighter 5 Arcade Edition probably isn't a directly result of that pledge, it does fit its promise rather nicely.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be released on January 16th and will be priced at $39.99! Arcade Edition will also introduce Arcade Mode, Extra Battle Mode, a Gallery, a new User Interface, and a second V-Trigger move for every character. The updated version of the popular fighting title will feature 28 characters-one of whom has yet to be announced-as well as several other updates to the base game. How do you feel about Street Fighter V today? Over time, Capcom has added everything from new characters to a comprehensive story mode to the game.

The biggest news here is that the Arcade Edition is bringing new V-triggers for all characters, upping the number of available V-triggers two for each one. After struggling at launch due to server issues and a perceived lack of content, Capcom has instead stuck by the game and continued to add more and evolve the experience through updates.

If you bought the base game and want access to all the characters (without having to sacrifice hours of your time for the pleasure), you have to complete challenges, or complete various Missions or run-throughs of Survival modes to grind out currency that'll let you buy more characters.

The Arcade Mode will allow players to choose six different paths in it, and each will have their own unique endings.

The Amazon page does not list a release date, but this is looking more and more likely at this point. We will keep you updated on Street Fighter V Arcade Edition as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news.

So should you be angry at Capcom for seemingly going back on its promise and releasing an Arcade Edition version of the game? These will still only be unlockable through in-game means for current players.
