Las Vegas shooting probe shows 'progress but no result'

In an odd twist, the father of the accused Las Vegas shooter, Stephen Paddock, was a convicted bank robber who was once on the FBI's Most Wanted list after escaping prison in the 1960s.

More than 50 people were killed and at least 406 injured when a crazed gunman opened fire on a country music festival in Las Vegas.

Reports said that Danley and Paddock had been sharing the same address since January 2017, as they were roommates in Mesquite, Nevada.

Earlier investigators said Paddock had planned the massacre so meticulously that he set up a camera in the peephole of his hotel room in an apparent attempt to spot anyone coming for him.

Neighbors described Paddock as friendly, but he wasn't close to them.

Questions from investigators, Gomez said, will likely focus on the arsenal Paddock assembled to carry out the attack.

"He didn't let her talk", the employee said.

"She was sent away.so that she will not be there to interfere with what he's planning", the sister suggested.

One sister speculated on the seemingly impromptu trip, saying Danley "didn't even know that she was going to the Philippines" until Paddock said he purchased the ticket.

In a TV interview in Australia, the sisters - whose faces were obscured and their names withheld - called Danley "a good person" who would have stopped Paddock had she been there.

In a press release of LVMPD, Sheriff Joe Lombardo said that the department is working to process the crime scene across from the Mandalay Bay Hotel and investigate the motives of the gunman.

According to Danley's LinkedIn, she had worked previously at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno as a hostess.

Also, casino regulators are looking closely at Paddock's gambling habits and checking their records to see whether he had any disputes with casinos or fellow patrons. Public records contained no indication of any financial problems, and his brother described him as a wealthy real estate investor. "It's like I just said, an asteroid fell out of the sky".

President Donald Trump is scheduled to arrive in Las Vegas Wednesday to meet with officials, first responders and some victims.

The bank robber was placed on the Federal Bureau of Investigation hit list in 1969 after he escaped from a prison in Texas.

His room's position on the upper floors provided a clear shot at the crowds below, and officials are exploring the possibility he used tripods to fire more accurately, the New York Times reported.
