Wales play in Georgia on October 6 and host Republic of Ireland three days later, with Chris Coleman's side now second in Group D, four points behind leaders Serbia and one ahead of third-placed Ireland.

"It's true we've dropped points in the league, but tomorrow we have a chance to change things".

Real Madrid are running rampant in the Champions League this season, but this weekend they're playing in La Liga, which has been a much different story.

"I see him in good shape, I see that he is happy and focused", said Zidane at his pre-match media conference after being asked about a Ronaldo renewal.

Zidane said: "He has a strain, it's nothing important, but here we do not like to take risks if a player has something small".

The global break may be seen as well-timed for Real in that regard, giving Zidane a fortnight to reassess their start to the campaign ahead of their trip to Getafe on October 14.

"I have already been presented here as coach", he said.

"We would love to play all our games here at the Bernabeu", he said. Espanyol aren't much better off, though - Javi Lopez, Oscar Duarte, and Adrien Lopez are all sidelines, and they lack the quality of depth that Madrid have to deal with those injuries.

Ronaldo was instrumental again as his surging run created the space for Isco - who started the move by winning possession - to collect Asensio's pass and slide into the bottom corner past Lopez.

Los Blancos' poor start to the season under Zinedine Zidane has not gone unnoticed by the Spanish press, although there seems to be plenty of calm within the Madrid squad.

TALKING POINT - Was this the start of Real Madrid's recovery?

Gareth Bale is not in the Real Madrid squad list.

Real Madrid - Navas 6, Achraf 6, Varane 7, Ramos 6, Nacho 6, Casemiro 6, Kroos 7, Modric 6, Isco 8, Asensio 7, Ronaldo 6.

As for Espanyol, Pablo Piatti was ruled out of the match due to a muscular problem, which saw Marc Roca come into a team which included both Gerard Moreno and Leo Baptistao in the final third of the field.
