Jackie Hoffman's "Feud" Emmy loss was an iconic mess

Hoffman delivered an outsized reaction to the announcement of the victor Sunday night, yelling "damn it!" and hitting the seat in front of her in what appeared to be a delicious moment of reality among the facade of smiles and polite clapping.

When Laura Dern's name was announced as the category's victor on the live broadcast, the camera showed a close-up of Hoffman's reaction to the loss, catching her visibly shouting, "Dammit!"

Hoffman has had a varied and exciting career as a character actress, but had never been nominated for an Emmy before this year, which she kind of alluded to in yet another tweet during the ceremony.

Laura Dern, who picked up the best supporting actress gong for her role in the HBO mini series praised the two female producers in her acceptance speech, acknowledging the difficulties that her friends and colleagues had previously spoken about.

The series featuring nearly entirely female stars, with Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz starring alongside Reese and Nicole, won a whopping five awards during the evening, taking home the Emmys for Best Limited Series, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor. "Forgive me for being from real people #elitism".

Again, in case I wasn't clear, this was obviously a joke on Hoffman's part and a very amusing one at that.

You're always a victor to us, Jackie.

While several publications have reported that Hoffman was "not pleased" at losing out, judging by her tweets afterwards it seems that the actress and stand-up comedian was likely joking.

Ok Ann Dowd went through this 7 times before she won so I feel better now.
