BSF jawan killed in Pakistani firing

Constable Brijendra Bahadur Singh - died after being injured in firing during ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Arnia worldwide border area of RS Pura sector.

An Indian paramilitary personnel was killed in firing by Pakistani troops on Friday. "BSF troopers are retaliating emphatically and successfully", said BSF sources to IANS news office. "They resorted to firing and shelling using small and heavy weapons on the IB in Arnia sub-sector at Nikowal, Budhwar, Buley-Chak, S.H. Beh and Shahnaz forward posts", a police officer said. Constable Bahadur (32), who sustained a bullet injury in his abdomen, died while being evacuated. He is made due by his better half Sushmita Singh. BSF troops guarding the border, retaliated the firing and gave a befitting reply while on civilian was also injured. This is the sixth ceasefire violation by Pakistan in a span of five days. The firing, he was told, took place in Phulian sector on the Pakistani side of the de facto border and that also three persons including a woman were injured. Until August 1, there were 285 such activities by the Pakistan armed force, while there were 228 in all of 2016, as indicated by the Indian Army, said PTI.

Islamabad accused the Indian troops of "deliberately targeting" civilians and termed it "deplorable and contrary to human dignity and global human rights and humanitarian laws".

Both sides accused each other of ceasefire violations earlier in the week.
