President Donald Trump's Mar-A-Lago resort is evacuating ahead of Hurricane Irma making landfall. Please gather the essentials for three to four days, including clothing, medicine, important documents and communication devices.

The storm, which is now the size of France, has triggered a state of emergency in Florida. Mar-a-Lago, which Trump has repeatedly visited since becoming President, is located just off the ocean in Palm Beach.

"Landscaping, roofing, walls, painting, leaks, artwork in the - you know, the great tapestries, tiles, Spanish tiles, the beach, the erosion", the real estate tycoon said of the storm damage.

Hurricane Irma is a Category 4 storm that first hit several Caribbean islands this week, and is predicted to reach Florida this weekend. On Friday morning, projections indicated that it was likely Irma will take the "worst case scenario" path into the Sunshine State.

"It really beat up Mar-a-Lago very badly", Trump claimed, though he only applied for building permits to do $3,000 worth of hurricane repairs.

Trump bought the property in 1985, when it was in disrepair, for $10 million, and spent millions refurbishing it before turning it into a club in 1995.

With climate change reportedly increasing the intensity of storms, rising sea levels have some wondering if federal dollars should be used to rebuild Mar-a-Lago.

This place will not move. "I was there for all of [the hurricanes]".

As Hurricane Irma tore through the Caribbean over the past two days, the destruction it left in its wake on several small - and relatively poor - islands was almost total.

Widespread devastation was reported on St. Martin after Irma swept through.

Trump's National Doral golf course is also at risk.

Afterwards, Hurricane Irma continued on a path that saw it inflict varying amounts of damage on Puerto Rico, the Domincan Republic, Haiti, and Turks and Caicos, among others.
