Cavaliers Mum On 'Non-Surgical' Approach To Thomas's Hip

Isaiah Thomas penned an entry in The Players' Tribune on Wednesday, reflecting on the blockbuster trade that sent him to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Kyrie Irving.

General manager Koby Altman said he didn't want to make the press conference about Thomas' hip, so that Lue quote certainly would've changed that. "We're also not going to put a timetable on it". We're just not going to rush this thing.

Isaiah Thomas' hip injury could keep him out until the All-Star break.

As additional compensation, the Celtics threw in a 2020 second-round pick, and the trade was completed.

"I'mma just say this here, point-blank, to get it over with - and then you can go ahead and post it on whatever bulletin boards you want to", Thomas teased knowing he was about to drop a bomb on the National Basketball Association.

More than two weeks have passed since the Cavs and Celtics originally agreed to terms, and the news conference was pushed back an additional 90 minutes because of a travel issue for Crowder. It made me realize this is a business and anyone other than LeBron James and Kevin Durant and those kinds of guys can be traded.

In fact, the players that now constitute Boston's Big Three - Irving, Al Horford and Gordon Hayward - are all here in part because of Thomas' play (Irving) and ability to convince them (Horford and Hayward) to come to Boston and be part of something special. The 28-year-old averaged 28.9 points last season, but his impact in Boston went way beyond his statistics.

The video shows Thomas telling someone on the phone how he learned he got traded and then features images of Thomas rehabbing his injured hip, all while soundbites about the trade - and his hip - play in the background.

"There was a lot going on that day, obviously", Crowder told reporters in Cleveland.

According to ESPN's Chris Haynes, Thomas is leaving his current management company, Excel Sports Management, and is looking for a new agent to guide him into free agency next year.

"I'm blessed to be able to be traded to a situation where - realistically - we can win a championship next year".

From a basketball perspective, me on the Cavs is a match made in heaven.

Thomas was bullish about the Cavs' potential this upcoming season.
