ECU alumna Sandra Bullock donates $1 million to Harvey effort

And, the inaugural donation has been made by Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation - of Dollars 1 million, reports E!

United Way Worldwide, which is a private charity organization that fights for health, education, and stability internationally, confirmed that every dime donated to Leo's fund will go toward helping those affected by the natural disaster.

THE Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has pledged $1 million to Hurricane Harvey victims as the inaugural donation to the new United Way Harvey Recovery Fund.

"We hope others will step up and support the United Way and other organizations", said Terry Tamminen, CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation said via Variety.

The non-profit foundation United Way reassured the public that all donations to its newly created fund are going to reach the points that Hurricane Harvey impacted.

Gallagher added that responding to the victims of Hurricane Harvey requires the best efforts, and the program will provide all the help needed for the improvement of lives along the Gulf Coast.

Houston is the hometown of worldwide pop singer Beyonce. Sandra Bullock, who owns a home in Austin and spends much of her time there, also pledged $1 million to the cause.

In a statement, she said, "There are no politics in eight feet of water".

Meanwhile, Kris Jenner announced that she and her daughters would be donating $500 thousand to relief efforts.

The Kardashian family, $250,000 each to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

"I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so fearless and determined to do so much to help", said the former Destiny's Child singer, from Houston.

Actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, $25,000 to the American Red Cross.

Governor Greg Abbott had a bleak message for residents of southeast Texas on Wednesday as he told them that the worst of Hurricane Harvey was yet to come.
