India's home minister said Monday he believed a border standoff with China would end soon, after new footage emerged showing border guards from both countries fighting on a disputed patch of land in the Himalayan region of Ladakh.

"India has never attacked any country, nor does it have an ambition to expand its borders. China will also take a positive step from its side", Singh said as he addressed the paramilitary Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

"Currently, we have no confirmation of the authenticity of the video", the army said. "I hope that this is broken soon, I am hopeful that China will initiate dialogue soon", the Home Minister said.

Contrary to the position of India and Bhutan, China accuses New Delhi of violating the border in its territory. He added that India wants friendly relations with all neighbours.

The daily quoted a report by the China Central Television (CCTV) as saying that "10 PLA units, including aviation units and armoured [sic] forces, participated in the drills" conducted by the Chinese army's Western Theater Command responsible for regions bordering India.

"Intensified frictions raise the potential for open conflict and could serve as an impetus for further US-India strategic cooperation that could have implications for China. However, at the same time, our security forces are fully equipped to protect our territorial integrity and borders", Mr Singh said.

China did not comment directly on the reported incident, but called on India to comply with earlier agreements and help maintain peace and stability along the border.

"China is extremely dissatisfied with this" and had lodged solemn representations, Hua said. Global Times has threatened India of war on numerous occasions since the standoff between Indian and Chinese soldiers broke out in mid-June.

China has been ramping up rhetoric against India over the last few weeks demanding immediate withdrawal of Indian troops from Doklam. "Which is why India should immediately and unconditionally withdraw all troops from Chinese territory", the anchor states.
