On back-to-back drives, Henry and McCaffrey got points on the board with a 17-yard touchdown for each running back.

Marcus Mariota threw a touchdown pass and the Tennessee Titans earned a 34-27 preseason win over the Carolina Panthers on Saturday. The Titans defeated the Carolina Panthers on Saturday 34-27. Towards the end of the third, it was Joe Webb finding Alex Armah for a 20-yard pass for the score.

The Titans opted to sit running back DeMarco Murray, which allowed Henry a chance to start again, and make plays.

After a dominant performance in the 1st half the Titans needed a game breaker tied at 27-27 late in the 4th quarter and they got it.

The Titans used Henry at running back on their first five series of the game, which netted three touchdowns and a field goal. On first down at the 50-yard line, he waited for his blocks to develop and made a few Titans look silly on a 22-yard carry.

Whether the Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton plays on Saturday afternoon in the team's exhibition game against the Titans will be determined on Friday after the quarterback meets with the coaching staffs and medical personnel about his shoulder.

Newton passed for 3,509 yards with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 15 games last season for the Panthers, who missed the playoffs after finishing last in the NFC South with a 6-10 record. Other than one long pass reception by Taywan Taylor and a good run from Akeem Judd (who?), the Titans offense was lifeless. The Titans turned both turnovers into touchdowns.

"It's a great sign", Mularkey said. That's our intent. When you've got a lot of guys around the ball where they're supposed to be, good things happen, and that's exactly what happened.

The Carolina Panthers are hoping for a bounce-back season after the team failed to live up to expectations during the 2016 National Football League campaign. Fluellen's touchdown run came after defensive lineman Jimmy Staten recovered a fumble caused by linebacker Aaron Wallace.

"You could tell he was rusty, " Rivera said Thursday.

Shortly after the Panthers quarterback watched his teammates drop a 34-27 preseason contest to the Titans, head coach Ron Rivera on Saturday sounded as optimistic about his most important player as he has in almost three weeks.
