North Korea is a rogue state, taking threats to a risky level

"As long as the USA hostile policy and nuclear threat continue, [Pyongyang] will never place its self-defensive nuclear deterrence on the negotiation table", North Korea's United Nations Ambassador Ja Song Nam told UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a telephone conversation, according to North Korea's UN mission.

- The U.S. military has an aircraft carrier, the USS Ronald Reagan, deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.

Washington and Seoul say the exercises are defensive in nature and crucial to deterring North Korean aggression.

The Moon government offered in July to hold Red Cross talks with the North Korea, which has been mum about the offer. And then there's Maxine Waters who said, "We should just give the North Koreans what they are demanding".

Emphasizing Seoul is the one that is most directly affected by North Korea's nuclear and missile issues, President Moon sternly said any sort of military action requires South Korea's consent, and underscored that another war on the peninsula is absolutely out of the question. But both Cabinet members sought to rebut the claim.

Mattis said that if North Korea launches a missile toward Japan, the U.S. Pacific island of Guam, the United States or South Korea, "we would take immediate, specific actions to take it down".

"A lot of the West's vision of North Korea is from defector testimony, which is going to have a political bent", Baker said. Given the magnitude of the threat posed by the North's weapons development, he said any diplomatic effort "has to be backed by a strong military effect if North Korea chooses wrongly". Unfortunately, Trump lacks the good judgment and temperament to deal with the North Korean leadership.

President Trump's message August 8 to Kim Jong Un after his threat to attack us: "If Pyongyang continues to make significant threats to the United States, it will be met with fire, fury, and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before". "These tough sanctions are being used to force North Korea to come to the table for talks", Moon said.

Bannon admitted any attempt to strike North Korea would lead to the death of "millions".

Rohrabacher was recalling comments he made to constituents on Wednesday. "At the same time, it is seeking unilateral measures, and I believe President Trump sought to pressure North Korea by showing a firm determination".

The lack of concessions from the USA indicates it's up to North Korea to back down at some point and offer more favourable terms for a compromise.

Bannon said: "The economic war with China is everything". He talked about purging rivals from the Defense and State departments to advance a more hawkish policy.

The U.S. aircraft have flown several sorties in East Asia in recent weeks.
