Hot, windy Wednesday with a chance for thunderstorms

Heat index values as high as 106. North wind 5 to 8 miles per hour.

Friday night, a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest winds will be between 10 and 20 miles per hour.

Friday will see a continued 20 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms in the morning. Expect otherwise partly sunny conditions with a high near 89 and a low around 74. South wind 5 to 10 miles per hour becoming west after midnight. However, it's just enough to lower our rain chances Thursday as the old cold front and trough have washed out. Conditions will remain mostly cloudy with a low around 70 degrees and a calm southerly wind.

"There is also a threat one or two storms may be briefly severe with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail to 1 inch in diameter", the weather service says. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 65.

Saturday will be mostly sunny, highs in the upper 70s.

Forecasters at AccuWeather are predicting about an inch of rainfall during the day on Friday in the Harrisburg area, followed by another 4 inches of rain Friday night into early Saturday morning.
